With the increase of People Living with HIV (PLHIV’s) statistics, there was an urgent need of a place, a safe place where PLHIV’s can meet and share their needs. This give birth to Dimapur Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (DNP+) with the process assistance from Naga Network for People Living with HIV/AIDS (NNP+) and Mr. Ram Chandra,(Program Officer ACT Project, (INP+) in collaboration with Population Foundation of India (PFI). The DC Dimapur has also been an instrument in matter of registration of Dimapur Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (DNP+). The District Level Network (DLN) got registered as Dimapur Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (DNP+) under Regd. No H/RS – 4569/2006, the network was founded under the leadership of Seven Board members as per Bye-Laws of Indian Network for People Living with HIV/AIDS (INP+).

The beginning was a time of struggle, at first DLN did not have a proper office, the founding members from their pockets invested in initiating the necessary works to function. With the efforts and hard works of the founding members, DNP+ started functioning in full swing from May 2006 with the project called Access to Care and Treatment sponsored by INP+. Dimapur Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (DNP+) was given the responsibility to help in organizing the programme for Candle Light Service in the month of May, and through this programme one of the positive speakers from DLN declared his status which was a turning point for the DLN for recognition as a Network for PLHIV’s. During the initial stage there was difficulties in following and maintaining the program of the project, the staffs had to undergo perplexities for office documentation, field works and while networking, the founding members from their pocket invested in initiating the necessary works to function. In the beginning the path was not easy to tread on, coming across so many ups and down during the journey to this peak, rocky was the path, fear to slip down but with the optimistic view of problems involved, the founding members with their dedication and determination showed the path to success.
